Instead of picking an orchestrator, abstract over them. The orchestration semantics become IP, not the platform.
Why the name works

The bosun doesn’t decide the voyage. The bosun translates the captain’s intent into deck operations and makes the crew execute in the right order.

Directly answers MD-UTIL Open Question #2 (IFT orchestration) — consistent with the MD-UTIL thesis of portable pipelines.
Known collision (accepted)
Bosun is also the name of Stack Exchange’s monitoring/alerting system (bosun.org, Go, mid-2010s, largely dormant). Different function; mild confusion risk only. bosun stays.

Bosun reads Reef’s declarations and emits orchestrator-specific workflows — Temporal workflow, Dagster job, Airflow DAG.
